Wednesday June 22 2011 09:41 AM
The Minister for Health Dr James Reilly responded to a recent parliamentary question on neurological care services, put forward by Deputy Catherine Murphy TD
Deputy Murphy asked the Minister if he has any plans to implement, in whole or in part, the Neurological Alliance of Ireland 10 point action plan for neurological care and if he will make a statement on the matter
In a written reply on 15 June, Minister Reilly welcomed the action plan for neurological care by the Neurological Alliance of Ireland.
He outlined that the HSE clinical programmes in epilepsy, stroke, rehabilitation and outpatient neurology will address many of the issues in relation to neurological care including access to neurology appointments so that patients will not have to wait more than 30 days for an appointment.
The NAI has once again written to the Minister to request an urgent meeting to present and discuss the action plan.
